With NBA 2K14, 2K Games is standing in stark contrast to EAs blockbuster Madden and FIFA series.

At present, NBA 2K14 is an Amazon Appstore exclusive, and it appears that its also only for the Kindle Fire family. The entry fee is eight bucks, but that gets you some pretty fantastic graphics, local multiplayer, and a revised one-finger control mode. At the moment 2K isnt saying when NBA 2K14 will make it to the Google Play Store, but these exclusivity agreements usually arent for more than a month or two.

One feature that 2K is pushing hard is a soundtrack hand-picked by superstar forward LeBron James. According to the press release "King James" selected all the artists and tracks, including Jay Z, Eminem, The Black Keys, and Daft Punk. Its a bit strange that the tracks that the enigmatic James selected are pretty much exactly what youd expect from a licensed, mass-market basketball video game. Its almost like someone paid James a bunch of money to put his name on marketing materials, then made the game that they would have made anyway. Ahem.

  

All that being said, NBA 2K14 looks like the standard yearly sports franchise update. NBA 2K13, which seems to be largely identical, is available in the Play Store for three bucks.

Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update is now being internally tested

While Microsoft is rumoured to be testing various versions of Windows Phone 8.1 internally for a while now, theres also buzz that the company is working on a less elaborate GDR3 update.

A new report by Nokia Power User claims that Microsoft is testing the GDR3 software update for Windows Phone 8 at Nokia India. The rumoured update is also expected to include the Notification centre, which was expected to be a part of Windows 8.1, notes the report.

The report also suggests that another feature dubbed as Appetite would also be included in the update. However, no details related to Appetite have been revealed in the report.

It is believed that the GDR3 update for Windows Phone 8 will enable support for quad-core processors and full-HD displays on the Windows Phone platform. The Windows Phone GDR3 update is expected to bring an additional column of Live Tiles on the Start screen, rotation lock, minor UI tweaks and a new Driving Mode option. It is not clear if the company will be pushing out the GDR3 update prior to the Windows Phone 8.1 release.

Earlier, a report by Windows Phone Central had cited an app developer who spotted an unrevealed Windows Phone OS version on his server logs. The developer claimed that his app Love Wallpaper HD was installed on phones running various Windows Phones OS versions 8.10.12073.0, 8.10.12086.0, 8.10.12100.0 and 8.10.12102.0. The highest version of Windows Phone that is reportedly available right now is 8.0.10328.78 and a higher version being spotted hinted that Microsoft could be testing the all new Windows Phone 8.1 internally.

However, not much can be said about the features and the time frame of the update as Microsoft has not confirmed anything till now.

Nokia is also rumoured to be working on a phablet code-named as Bandit which is expected to include a full-HD (1080p) display and is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. However, the device may not be unveiled before Microsoft rolls out the GDR3 update to Windows Phone devices.

How to Root Nexus 10 on Android 4 3 Jelly Bean Firmware

Nexus 10 users who have already updated their devices with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, may root their devices using the tutorial below.

This tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file released by recognised XDA Developers, Chainfire. The CF-Auto-Root file allowing Nexus 10 users to root their devices easily without depending on the firmware. It completely supports Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and future firmware as well. Head over to the CF-Auto-Root main thread to learn more about the root method.

Disclaimer: Rooting voids the warranty of your device. We and the developer of this rooting procedures shall not be held responsible if any undesirable outcomes may happen to your device. use of this root guide is solely at your own risk!

Pre-requisites
1. Make a backup of all your important data before following the guide.
2. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone.
3. The Nexus 10 should be factory unlocked.
4. Ensure the battery of the phone is charged more than 80 per cent.
5. The CF-Auto-Root file works only on Nexus 10. Applying this on any incorrect variant might brick the device. Verify the model number of the Nexus 10 by navigating to Settings >> About Phone.

Steps to Root Nexus 10 on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Firmware

Step 2: Extract CF-Auto-Root file using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool.
Step 3: Switch off the Nexus 10. Then boot the device into fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power buttons together.
Step 4: Connect the Nexus 10 to the computer using USB cable, then wait until Windows finished installing the drivers.
Step 5: Navigate to the folder where you extracted the CF-Auto-Root files, then run the following command:

• Windows: Run root-windows.bat
• Linux: chmod +x root-linux.sh, Run root-linux.sh
• Mac OS X: chmod +x root-mac.sh, Run root-mac.sh

Step 6: Follow the on-screen instructions. Once the rooting procedure completes, the phone will boot into normal mode. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Nexus 10 running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware is now rooted successfully. Open the app drawer of the Nexus 10 and look for an app called SuperSU. Verify the root status of the device by downloading Root Checker app from Google Play Store.

Note: If SuperSU does not appear after Step-6, then you can install it manually from the Google Play Store.

Samsung has now released the official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with firmware build number I9082XXUBMHB for Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082) owners in the Southeast Asian countries.

This update brings some new stuff on the Galaxy Grand Duos such as lockscreen widgets, dedicated toggles menu in the status bar, improved task switching, Daydream screensaver mode, and performance enhancements. It also integrates new widgets, homescreen and more features from the Galaxy S4.

Steps to Update Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 with Android 4.2.2 XXUBMHB Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract Firmware zip file using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool, you will get a .tar.md5 file and some other files.
Step 2: Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
Step 3: Switch off the Galaxy Grand Duos.
Step 4: Boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 5: Run Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 6: Connect the Galaxy Grand Duos to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn to light blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.

Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.

Step 7: Choose the following files in Odin from extracted I9082XXUBMHB firmware folder by using respective checkboxes:

• Select the PDA checkbox, and choose the file named .tar or .md5.
• Click the Phone checkbox, and choose the file with modem in its name (ignore if there is no such file)
• Click the CSC checkbox, and select the file with csc in its name (ignore if such file is missing)
• Choose the PIT checkbox, and choose the .pit file. Use only the file obtained during extracting in step 1 above, otherwise ignore it.

Step 8: In Odin, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. Also, ensure the Re-Partition checkbox is chosen only if a .pit file was chosen in the previous step.
Step 9: Verify everything suggested in Step 7 and Step 8 is done correctly. Then hit the Start button to begin the installation process.
Step 10: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 should be now updated with official Android 4.2.2 XXUBMHB Jelly Bean. Head over to Settings >> About Phone to verify the software version running on the device.

Note: If Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 stuck at booting animation after Step 10 then go to recovery mode (press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together) and perform Wipe data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting reboot system now function. In recovery mode use Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select the option. Please note, performing wiping task will erase your device internal memory data and not external SD card data.
